Science Curriculum Objectives’ Intellectual Demands: A Thematic Analysis

Science curriculums and curricular materials are essential guidelines in materializing effective science teaching. The primary goal of the current study aims to present a thematic analysis last three elementary middle school objectives released 2013, 2017, 2018 determine whether they provide base for teachers design intellectually demanding instructional tasks. This conducted an in-depth document describe themes objectives' intellectual demands beyond mere description. Moreover, critical document-based achieved call interrogation intended curricula. reveals that explored mainly include physics-related biology-related topics chemistry-related topics. There is less place issues related astrophysics earth sciences. Although changes (2013, 2018) were actualized enrich curriculums' scope, capacity, variation, conceptual emphasis seemed be strictly copied over years. under examination appeared let high tasks teach knowledge epistemic practices, however, certain extent. It concluded sharp decreases number observed abstraction zone may hinder from generating teaching environments where students can transfer acquired practices external contexts.
